SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

What is Spiritual Direction?

Updated: Jun 29, 2020

Spiritual Direction is a sacred conversation with a trained listener about God's presence in your life. Through this intentional and holy time you are invited to notice, attend and explore the deeper movements of the Spirit. The spiritual director knows that it is God who is guiding and holding the conversation and is inviting you to open to God's transforming love and grace. Spiritual Direction offers a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space to reflect upon your life journey, your relationship with God, yourself and others.

Why you might seek spiritual direction.....

Become more aware of God's presence in your daily life.

Explore and interpret your experiences of God.

Help when you are in a time of transition, change or loss.

Explore ways to integrate spirituality and practices in your daily life.

Discover and learn new and different ways of praying.

Recognize barriers for growth in your relationship with God, self and others.

Spiritually heal from past wounds and hurts.

Learn ways to discover your truest self and live out of a place of acceptance, love and Grace.

If you are clergy, a spiritual director can be the person who helps, guides and prayerfully holds space for you and your spiritual life and journey, so you can hold space for the people of your congregation.

"Any time people desire uncovering the true Self, of divesting themselves of idols, of allowing their deepest aspirations to motivate their lives, spiritual direction can be relevant." Rose Mary Dougherty from her book Discernment a path to spiritual awakening
